Vanilla pod - bourbon
Along with saffron, cardamom and fennel pollen, vanilla is one of the most exclusive spices in the world. Vanilla is extracted from a specific orchid in a process that takes weeks. Although the prices have been going through the roof for years because there is hardly any good vanilla available, we strive to offer good quality at an affordable price.
The well-known Bourbon vanilla takes its name from the island of Bourbon, now Réunion. It has a balanced, characteristically sweet and heavy aroma: an intense fragrance and a strong, full-bodied taste. Accordingly, the bourbon vanilla is suitable for almost all dishes with which vanilla goes well.
Goes well with: sweet dishes but also fish, chicken, root vegetables (especially parsnips, carrots / carrots and parsley roots) and asparagus.
Can be combined well with: chilli, coffee, cocoa, cardamom, pepper, liquorice, tonka bean and cinnamon.
A pod is around 12 to 14 cm long and weighs around 2.5 grams, packed in a flat-bottomed glass.
