The well-known Bourbon vanilla takes its name from the island of Bourbon, now Réunion. It has a balanced, characteristically sweet and heavy aroma: an intense fragrance and a strong, full-bodied taste. Accordingly, the bourbon vanilla is suitable for almost all dishes with which vanilla goes well.
Goes well with: sweet dishes but also fish, chicken, root vegetables (especially parsnips, carrots / carrots and parsley roots) and asparagus.
Can be combined well with: chilli, coffee, cocoa, cardamom, pepper, liquorice, tonka bean and cinnamon.
A pod is around 12 to 14 cm long and weighs around 2.5 grams, packed in a flat-bottomed glass.
